I’d like to give a belated shout out to Marquina Iliev-Piselli for her “Glam Chemo” project, which nicely couples some of the transformative powers of glam, glam rock, and rock guitar.

“With a little help from a photographer friend and a makeup artist pal, plus a generous donation of dresses from Rent the Runway and permission from her oncologist at NewYork-Presbyterian and Weill Cornell Medicine, Iliev-Piselli found a way to face chemo with style and grace. She called it the Glam Chemo Project.”
I had the honor of seeing her perform at the Air Guitar World Championships in Finland to a remixed version of “Timber,” during which she kicked a solo cup onto the audience and splashed me.
